Shyamala Maisondieu was studying chemical engineering when an classified ad led her to take her first steps in perfumery. She had realised that this field would allow her to combine her scientific discipline and creative disposition, like no other. ” like the idea of different worlds meeting, of making diversity a creative plus”, she says.

Shyamala was born of an Indian father and Malaysian mother and grew up in Asia before being impregnated with the European culture. She has a curious, insatiable mindset, is keen on photography, plays the piano, learns foreign languages, and has practised calligraphy and yoga. All these influences run through her creations that are as colourful and radiant as they are comfortable, thanks to enveloping raw materials such as musk, the tonka bean, benzoin and spices.

Her dream as a perfumer? “To come up with a fine fragrance, that is balanced, powerful, sensual…universal.”
